Creating Your Sacred Space + Rituals

A sacred space is an area that is designated for a particular purpose. Sacred definition: /ˈsākrəd/ (adj) 1. connected with God (or the gods) or dedicated to a religious purpose and so deserving veneration. Most sacred spaced are tied to religion, but it doesn't have to be. There is also no limit to how big or small your sacred space is. It can be a shelf, a corner, or a whole room. My sacred space was created just by me wanting to keep all of my spiritual things together. It was what I called my meditation station and I only had a few things at the time. Incense, incense holder, elephant statue, mala beads, and maybe 1 or two there things. Now I need a whole wall to house everything (my collection grows as my spiritual knowledge grows!). My room has always been my sacred space, even before I became really spiritual. My room was where I went to get away from everything. A place where I could be myself and be surrounded by good energy. The same still applies to this day, I just have a few more special items.

Creating a sacred space is extremely easy. All you have to do is choose your space (remember there is no limit to the size of your space) and put things of significance/importance/meaning in that space. These things could be pictures of an ascended master or deity, symbols (ankhs, crosses, Om, etc), flowers, candles, incense, crystals, water fountain...whatever it is that makes you happy. The objective of this place is to bring you as much peace as it possibly can!

A ritual is "a ceremony consisting of a series of action according to a prescribed order". So pretty much you want to perform an act the same way, even around the same time, every day. One of my rituals before I moved was once I got home from work, I would light incense and go in the shower. I also had a ritual last summer that as soon as I woke up, I went outside to water my sunflower that I was growing. Another ritual that I have been doing for years is every time I see 111 or 1111 I repeat my mantras out loud. Some people have morning rituals where they go running, repeat mantras/prayers, or journal. Some people have pre-bedtime rituals like drinking tea. Again, whatever you make as your ritual fits to your life and your lifestyle. Even if you have a busy schedule, a tiny ritual like telling yourself "I love you" in the mirror before you head out the door will suffice! Rituals can also deal with divinations, connection to your higher self, and a plethora of other things....again there is no limit here!

The significance of creating a sacred space is that it literally becomes a sanctuary, and oasis...your peace in a world filled with madness. This also is the same for your rituals. These two things provide a sense of stability and security...HELLO OPEN, FLOWING ROOT CHAKRA! It mentally creates a safe space for you. I noticed that when I have a sacred space and rituals my anxiety decreases. It's like my brain knows whats happening or where I am and a stream of endorphins get to flowing.

Here are a few pictures of my sacred space.
